I understand what you are saying but some people want their kids to live. My mother was in that situation and she told my dad that he had to choose me no matter what. And for that I am grateful. Also we both survived so I get to be with her
I understand their point of view but as a mother of two, I definitely think differently. I plan to eventually have a third and if I had to choose between me or my future baby, I would choose me. I have no plans to leave my spouse alone to raise three kids, to make my current two kids motherless when they've known and loved me all their lives so far. It would just be cruel and I personally would see it as me being selfish to take myself away from them and put them in a horrible situation without me.
I mean some people would view you putting yourself before your child as cruel and selfish too, regardless of the reason you're doing it. I don't think this topic is very clear cut and is shades of gray. Either choice (depending on your situation) would be selfish in some way.
Also to the OP, it's realistic for people to choose their children first too. You may not understand it, but lots of people do do it. To put your child before yourself or to put yourself first...both are realistic.
If people see it that way, then they're nothing but wrong. Because I would be choosing my born children before a child I don't even know yet. It's a lot more cruel to choose a fetus and take away a mother from already born children. Especially because if I chose to die over the fetus, it would be my own selfish desire rather than my whole family's decision. No way in hell would my spouse or my children want me to die over someone they don't even know yet. So no, it's not selfish. It's putting logic over my own desire.
I understand and thats why i said that either desicion must be respected.
I dont think either desicion is selfish at all but everyone has different views about it and i respect them.
