I started looking ahead with the Indo translation just looking at the panels not trying to translate it yet (will attempt to use Google later as Indo translation seems to come out rather well for dramas), and it seems he is haunted by losing her hence needing sleeping pills and having dreams about her and the flashbacks. He didn't know how to express his love properly until after the fact, and he's bitter because he's miserable without her. It definitely looks to be improving in later chapters. i just think it may start out slowly.

My guess there is more to the story as to why he left him. She doesn't seem like a flaky person to me.
