Because she made that black ring thing that makes them unable to use their powers, so to make that all function from just a small mechanic...she would need to do something in the lab for it to work and oops chemical X dropped on her and now she's just a talking head with a paralyzed body)

Killian isn't the best, but isn't the worst. Compared to Cliff, Killian felt a bigger sense of duty to be fair towards his wife when she provided clear evidence of her Innocence. Cliff could only see the bad side of everything and it totally unfair to Edith. Cliff would investigate who poisoned Elise's sewing kit BUT won't suspect someone framed Edith ; Cliff is biased. But Killian thought things through, he doesn't want to make Edith feel like she's targeted by them and believes his father is acting reckless. And he's like, the key for her to live a happy life in this darned story

FL, I kinda get her? After a life full of torment and neglect, I'd also love to live a peaceful life (with a smexy rich lover, if it were an option) as reward. She seems like a fast learner, considering she can now somewhat read a book on her own.
