??? how did you not realize? in the first chapters I realized he was a creep just with how he acted towards her, also so many tiktoks say that he's in love with her. its actually so known in the fandom it wasn't even shocking, just gross.

And tbf, she was adopted. They were kids when they met. I know it's still messed up and all, but they have no blood relation and didn't spend the first part of their lives together. There's actually studies on how being raised together while tiny can make the human brain recognize each other as full siblings, but how after a certain developmental point (I think usually around 8 or something), the family bond is no longer instinct and instead has to be 'grown'.

He probably never saw her as family at all, just a possession.

Bwuaha!! I'm so relieved- in as early as CH3 she says she's not the pope's daughter. She says her mom was actually already pregnant before the mom began meeting with the pope... so even if the pope was theoretically banging the mom (sorry I know that sounds awful) then at least we're confident the MC was not actually blood related to anyone in the family. She was literally adopted to be a chick they could use to look charitable by adopting, but really they just sold her off repeatedly.

I know adopted kids are still 100% family in normal situations and all, but in this scenario, she was just a show pony that got abused and used to bring in money. She had no relation and wasn't even even seen as an actual adopted child, just a slave they could sell repeatedly by pretending they cared.

although its still horrible im glad theres no blood relation
