He has a lot of repressed emotions and doesn't know how to express them, even the positive ones, and the SA he suffered made everything even worse :(( At first I hated brett for how he treated Hayden and I stopped reading when there were less than 10 chapters, but then I reread when there were more than 20 c. and his character turned out to be more complex than I thought.
