i think the fact that he communicated with the demon king (twice if i'm not wrong), means he is "awake" to the past and to the fact of who his childhood sweetheart really is, and maybe also who he really is.

lol..... in ch.9 from page 24 there is a clue to the real "hero" where even the mc thinks "who is this"... there r more hints here and there, things he says and the face he makes which r much darker and would suit the demon king and not the lighthearted Graham.. there was another scene where the demon king kinda communicated directly (subconsciously) with Graham, but i can't seem to find it ...
They did mention that the hero and the demon king are linked. Also that because of that link the demon king could find out where the mc was through the hero. So the hero has been leaving the mc behind in her past lives in order to protect her. I think that is all it is. That he has awakened and knows all the past, but this time has decided to fight instead of hide.
