Technically they're not she's just being sponsored by the duke bot being adopted. Which also the same in their first lives that's why edwin went to get her from the crown prince's dungeon
They aren't family and the Duke did not adopt mc. The Duke is currently sponsoring mc and has taken the role as her guardian so she is currently living with them. In the first timeline, mc was almost adopted by the Duke as her 18th birthday present but she was killed before that could happen.
