Unpopular Opinion: I hate it when authors make like the most fucked up male leads but then attach like some tragic backstory. I understand your past but that doesn’t excuse his constant manipulation and abuse and exploitation of the MC
I don't know why people keep saying this. No one is saying it excuses his actions. It's just character development and it helps explain why he is the way he is. An explanation is not the same thing as an excuse. And personally, I think he'd be a really flat character if he was just evil for the sake of being evil. This helps to flesh him out a bit more and makes him more relatable.
This comment section is probably the most understanding comment section in BL. People are acknowledging and empathizing with Ben’s backstory but still know that it doesn’t justify his actions towards the MC…Media literacy in the year of our Lord 2025?
I think this BL just attracts more open-minded fujos/fudans in general.
