Ian’s mom is NOT like most arab or asian moms. Yes sometimes it can get toxic and the behavior can be mistaken, and of course, not every parents is perfect, but Ian’s mom is so desperate for attention that she made herself believe it was for Ian. She knows it isn’t, but she dug herself so deep into it that no amount of convincing can help her. Arabs and asian moms usually push you to greatness because they think you can’t see it or understand it yet, but they can, so sometimes they will disregard your feelings for it, but it’s rarely ever selfish. Ian’s mom is doing everything for purely selfish reasons, because her life improved greatly, and she wants it so much that she just made herself believe it was great for Ian too, just so she could get more of it.
