I think it's 17 or earlier. (Correct me if I'm wrong) At that time, the old man was supposed to engaged or married but Mookyul was against at that arrangement. He went to have sex to one of the old man's henchman and they were discovered by the old man. I guess this is Mookyul's rebellion towards the old man. The old man developed some complicated feelings towards Mookyul after that incident, which leds to their own brand of "sex". I remembered that the old man mentioned that his feelings towards Mookyul was between the borders of hatred and love (I don't know if this is mentioned in the main story or in the doujin) which is why he is doing those things to Mookyul. I guess I wouldn't count the old man as a pedophile since his actions maybe counted as pedophilic but his intentions wasn't totally anchored in pure lust at all. I think in the main story, Mookyul is at least 20 years old since Ewon is a college student and they both first meet at a certain age in the same grade level in elementary.

Yup, "Sangchul's Diary" is the name. I feel short on the storytelling of that dj but it still suffice on the story behind Mookyul's past. I guess what triggers on the old man's complicated feelings towards Mookyul is that scene with the confidant.

The author wrapped it up quite well.
When the old man declared that he will adopt him officially, but eventually made him like a pet again, on their final talk the old man realize that he simply can't control him so he just let him do what mookyul wants, thats why when they are searching for fox jun, mookyul stated that it is nice to have some power and he can do much more (indicating that he will accept being the old man's heir).

As for the old man he knew very well that someday, someone will appear and turned everything upside down, thats why when sangchul directly confront him to stop treating mookyul like a lapdog he said that sangchul isnt the person that can make him (mookyul) disobey him ( old man)

The old man making mookyul as his son, negates or simply cut his desire and obsessiveness he can no longer be torn of letting him go or wanting him.
