Yeah, it occured to me that he probably can't see the future, he is just messing with people for shits and giggles. Probably thinks that mc is an arrogant noble and thought that this will "correct her behaviour".

If he is, I wouldn't find it cute.
He just ruined mc's life, it can't be fixed with a simple "oh it's a misunderstanding, sorry" kind a thing. And say "aww he didn't mean it"- like that's fucked up.

She became obsessed with his "prophecy" that she ruined her dream and childhood. Even if that lead her to the ml and happy ever after-etc., the end doesn't justify the means- some people say.

Honestly I would hope that he's an asshole so my anger and hate is justified. If he really cared (what he just said was a total lie to me) he would continue to teach the MC because everyone could see that she wants to be a magician and is putting in effort.

No offense and I respect your opinions, but I would fucking flip if it turns out as you say.
