I don't get why people see or dismiss something as nothing just because it happened long ago.. For some people it might not amount to much but to others certain situations could change a person and affect them.
Jaeha had a terrible childhood, he was abused by his father, his parents didn't take care of him, he wanted acceptance and normalcy in his life.
And the only friend who treated him like one; abandoned him, i get they were kids, but traumas sometimes start from small situations, or a word that was said. Jaeha literally hates himself, tries to act as people want him to act, he lost himself from years of changing how he should behave and be in order to be accepted..
This small event that you are all belittling was the reason for his lifelong choices and his change.
He is terrified of being treated as before, and is apparently suffering from self hate as well, and even if his intentions towards eun tae were wrong, he never actually treated him wrong, every interaction whether physically or emotionally he did them only after hid partner consented to it, not like other jerk male leads in other manhuas who take by force, and sexually abuse their partners.
He is a dark male lead with issues, and who actually felt apologetic and remorse for wanting to screw his partner over, again which he never did.. Lets differentiate between intents and actions.
