I believe Oscar loved her but his ego is so fragile and his inferiority complex was astronomical that he made Ines suffer that he broke her including himself in the process. In the third timeline, Ines mentioned that he didn’t went through all that debauchery like in the first timeline (as if he remembers what he had done) and is now careful with her and holds her in high regard (still insanely obsessed and possessive too)
Emiliano chose to disappear because it was a love full of suffering for Ines and should never happen to her again. But he seems a bit contradictory because that jewel/medal being displayed kinda says “I hope you remember what we had” which was torturous to Ines. Now, he’s thriving as an artist and has a promising future which is bound to happen because Ines wasn’t in his life.
maybe emiliano did that because he was trying to give Ines a cue that he is alive and he remember everything like she does and other people from past lifes can remember so she should be careful. i don't think he did that with ill intent.
He didn’t do that with ill intent it’s just he’s contradicting himself and that move could potentially hurt Ines (if he thinks she remembers everything too).
I read somewhere that for this story and their world remembering your past life is a punishment therefore Carcel not being able to remember his past life or even his 1st means he is loved by god
Nooo! All of them are equally loved by god. I just have forgotten the reason on why Emiliano can remember in his past life.
To elaborate on whaf I said, The reason on why Carcel was gifted the "gift of dreams" instead of remebering unlike the rest is because Carcel is truly innocent from all the events that happened in the OG 1st life (not the 1st life with Oscar that Ines thought) and Carcel was supposedly blessed to live a long life with Ines but died in the war. Before Carcel died he prayed that WHATEVER Ines prayed for will be fulfilled.
To which on the other hand, Ines prayed that Carcel wouldn't end up with her. (Because Ines is severly insecure in this life due to her Mother's abused.)
All the events that happened in Ines' second (Oscar) and third (Emiliano) was the consequence of her own prayer. Ines was only punished when she killed herself in the second timeline, and when she killed her baby and herself again in the third timeline.
So there was no truly punishment that befall on the OG 1st timeline but rather their own prayer.
This is what u get for being blindly in love with someone and yet so dense with the other. The fl thinks she can always abuse the Benjamin's “kindness” without giving nothing in return. And she should know that the emperor is also a victim here, the problem ( the amnesia curse) will not go away by acting pitiful and stubborn, she swallowed her pride on the wrong time, didn’t even try to find out what truly happened to the emperor and why he was acting like that. Like is it just me who thinks that the kidnapping, mental torture, abuse, and drugging was put under the rug like I think the mc hasn’t properly apologized for it nor explained why she did such a thing to the ml (it was only explained as her thoughts being narrated to the readers)?. Like I get it that mag doesn’t see the torture as a bad thing because it feels like freaking Stockholm syndrome with twisted emotional dependency don’t you think so? but he deserves to know why she did all that to him or did I miss it huhuhu and also… the bruises she got on the early part of the story? Who really hurt her?
