It drifted me back when my mother died in front of me. I was watching her grasping her heavy breaths until she finally took her last. I was so disoriented for a few months, I can't speak and convers properly. The image of my mother in that moment just won't leave my head. The ML lost both of his parents with just a blink of an eye, not even able to say goodbye before they got buried, my heart hurt.

i know right! i was expecting the same as you, but then i read the novel a bit and got disappointed so i ended up never finishing it. the angst is good though as spoiled by many others here so hopefully we'll get to feast on that at least.
