Oh geez, I really don’t think you understand literature at all, despite being all ‘high-browned’ and suggesting all us go read ‘old literature’. Much of literature is critical analysis, and that’s what a lot of people are doing - constructively criticizing what they don’t like about the author. You DO know that a lot of papers on old literature critique the writer and the plot and the story right? To just brush aside concerns by saying ‘be respectful it’s free’ is such a shoddy excuse.

If people have a problem with something, they have the right to say what they don’t like about it. Maybe the author will take it into consideration and improve or change her style. You do know that’s how authors grow right? They have editors who critique them, and make them change parts of the story. In fact, that’s what PEOPLE do to improve themselves - by taking other people’s critiques and changing themselves to be better. Honestly, your opinion brushes over so many important parts, and I don’t like the fact that you assume we don’t read old lit, or that we have to read old lit to engage critically with a piece of art.

I think the author has enough people close to her who she can ask for advice. She doesn't need the opinion of thousands of people who will always complain in whatever you do. The Author is free to make what she want and if people cannot deal with it then just don't read it.

People will grow that is a given, or maybe not that is a given too. If you think you can do a better job then go do it. But yeah of-course you are free to constructively criticize the author, just get in line with the other thousands of so called experts.

Considering she’s an author and publicizing her work for public consumption? I think she better care about what people think about her work, because otherwise people are just going to get more upset and will abandon her work. She’s a public figure now darling, she better take note of what her audience wants. She’s not just writing for those close to her, she’s writing for the masses. And if a significant portion of her readers are upset, as they are now? Then that spells trouble for her. And if she’s not upset, then her editors definitely will be.

Also I think that you need to really take a good look at yourself if you can’t see the glaring gap in your logic. :))))

No, that is not how writing works, mostly you write or create for yourself, you make something you want to read yourself just like most book writers do. I think if everyone would write what the masses wants you get a very boring encyclopedia with only the same stories over and over.

Second of all she doesn't need to take a shit from anyone, she can make whatever she wants and however she wants, if she at some point will decide to make what the audience wants there will be no end to it and that basically means you can stop making stories. Only you yourself can decide whatever happens in the world you create not your fans not anyone else.

Maybe the business these days has changed, in the end it will only hurt the stories if authors will start making changes to it because of what the audience want, unless you want to read the same plot line over and over and over again.

... I really don’t think you understand how business works. She’s selling her product to an audience. This is not a product where she’s just doing it for the sake of writing, for her own personal enjoyment and out of the goodness of her heart. She may enjoy writing it, but at the end of the day, she has to sell access to it and it has to make money - for her, for her editor, for the publishing company, for the licensers and distributors. If the audience is upset and doesn’t like the product, they won’t buy it. Then she’s out of luck.

Like, imagine if Samsung made a crappy laptop. No one’s going to want to buy it. The manufacturer and designer might have really loved to make that laptop, but if it’s crappy, and they don’t change what’s wrong with the laptop, no one’s gonna buy it.

I don’t think you understand that the author’s work is not free. She has to make money from it, and she does it by selling it to her audience. And if her audience is upset with her product, she damn well better listen and change, before they leave for greener pastures. After all there’s no shortage of webtoons.

Well the world works that way then no one would ever come up with original authentic stories anymore. Then the same thing would be made every time only to be presented as something different. (to make money you also need to be creative and think outside the box, how do you think stuff like Microsoft or Apple are born, with your way of thinking we wouldn't even had internet these days.)

Thankfully this isn't the case. Look and you can say all you want about the masses wanting something else, the people who complain aren't representing the masses, their just being the loudest. And thank god editors and Authors don't only look to them but look at the bigger picture. It is common knowledge that people who complain or how you call it give constructive criticism mostly always will do so, while the people who enjoy the comic/book most of the time just enjoy it and do not comment because they have other things on the mind then to comment om every single piece of work.

In the end authors make their comics not their fans, and even tough it could look like allot of people do not like it, it is still a small group just being loud. Sadly their also the most visible.

No one said that they don’t enjoy original writing. The reason people were attracted to this comic and are paying for it was because it had an original idea. But now it’s drawn out and all there is is more sex and more hate sex, and very little in the way of plot progression and character development. People are feeling like their time and money are being wasted. Considering that I will stop paying on Lezhin for this comic because it’s turned to such shit, the author is already going to lose a customer.

And look. I think you’re mixing something up. People will support original things because it’s different, but if that original thing becomes broken and defective, people will stop supporting it. That’s just how the world works. If you don’t understand that, then literally you need to go outside more and grow up, kid. Welcome to demand market.

And I have no idea where your ‘common knowledge’ is from, because if you look anywhere else, at any comic, people give love in the comments and very rarely critiques. But that’s not the case with this webtoon. You literally have no evidence to assert that statement, and a lot of evidence against that statement.

I’m too lazy to read and argue the rest of your comment, since it’s like talking to a child who hasn’t experienced the real world yet. I really think you’re naive and honestly, you need to grow up. At the end of the day, Apple and Lezhin is a business. They pump out some original products, but they’re still gonna have to satisfy their customers and their bottom line or they’ll get blowback and go under. So many people have ‘original’ ideas but never blow up (aka many musicians, artists, startups, restaurants) unless they have a customer base willing to shill our for them. And this author is quickly making hers upset
