Literally everyone but the main couple. Every other single person in this story were trash. Except maybe Hansol's parents. But everyone else, straight garbage. I hate his mother/not mother, his father, his brother, his entire family, the doctor, Hansol's siblings (although I can at least understand their motivations), everyone.

You can't redeem your chosen main love interest because you've made him such a piece of shit so you're going to attempt to make him likeable again by being like, "But see how sweet, attentive, and loving he's been towards Woohoo his entire life? He's always taken care of and loved him!!!"
:enter eye roll:
It's definitely not clever. I also find it funny how many authors clearly want an incest relationship but end up shying away from it. Just how many fucking times do we need to re-mention that they're not blood related? At least once every three chapters? We get it, youre too afraid to write an incest story

Like, omega verses seem especially allergic to the idea. Honestly, harems in yaois in general are actually kind rare, but omega verses seem to be in utter denial that the omega, not the alpha, could have a harem. Don't tease us with a harem and then give us an extremely typical and run of the mill mono relationship. Should sue authors who do that, but alas, I'm not paying to read these

Octavia34 September 16, 2025 3:50 am

But it's not terrible. At least, not as terrible as a lot of shit tastic omega verses out there.
The artist isn't a master at their craft. Things are a bit weird here and there with the bodies, but human bodies are damn hard and this person drew 45 chapters (and hopefully counting) of a story which is a lot more than a lot of people can say. And it's honestly not terrible either. Just someone who is still working on improving their craft. Can't fault that.
As far as alphas go, he's definitely not as bad as many alphas or popular semes out there. He's still trash for a while in the story, but that's more of an interesting reflection of the universe this story is set in, and not so much as a core character flaw. A lot of omega verses say they have universes like this but either lean in to them extremely too heavily (with literal condoned child rape) or write characters that seem to not have been raised in such a setting. In this case, you get a more balanced display of how everyone was affected living in this type of society. (Although Seolu's family leans more towards that oddly extreme side for no apparent reason).
It's not a great story like Omega Complex, but it's actually a lot better than a lot of others out there imo.

Also, I had better get to see some babies damn it!

Lastly, authors really don't understand biology or evolution. Why is it so many authors when they write omega verses make it cannon that male omegas HAVE to have C-sections? Like, if that was the case, there wouldn't be any male omegas. They'd have died out long before modern medicine because every single one would have died during child birth.
The argument could be made that they have a higher rate of C-sections, but not that all of them absolutely require one.

    Kay September 17, 2025 8:12 am

It's not that they don't understand biology or evolution. I'm sure they do. But, the prospect of having a butt baby is kind of weird and icky lol.

It's funny because I also had the same thought as you when I read that, but I just assumed there was some sort of in universe workaround that the author couldn't figure out how to add in naturally.

The reverend and mob boss knew each other and knew where MC was the entire time. They knew the MCs story. The. Entire. Time. Remember, the reverend KNEW Seo was looking for MC. At any point in time the reverend could have told Seo what happened to MC 15 years ago, how hard MC struggled to find him, how he joined a gang to get more resources to find him, and tell Seo where he currently was. The reverend had ALL that information. You know, very big important things you would normally word vomit on someone who went totally missing that you were in charge of who randomly turned up alive and fine one day.
Instead he kept his mouth shut. Didn't say shit.

Also..... Shouldn't the reverend be in jail and what not for losing Seo? Maybe his job connections kept him free

    Octavia34 September 11, 2025 2:21 am

LETS NOT FORGET THAT THE REVEREND COULD HAVE ALSO TOLD THE MC WHERE TO FUCKING FIND SEO. OR THAT HE WAS EVEN ALIVE

I'm not even caught up yet. Only in the 40s rn. But holy hell. This story jumps around so much and leaves you wondering if incomplete chapters have been uploaded. But no, that's just how it is. Some things can be chalked up to possibly poor translations, but not everything, but what just happened takes the cake in this poorly thought out plot and timeline.

MC literally refuses to go back with the ML because he fears for the little boy and his mother's life. ML conceeds and leaves MC behind only to have him delivered to him a week later in full heat under the rise of having him sold to some old alpha who needs an alpha heir.
But, he still has no idea where the MCs mother is or the child?! IT WAS LITERALLY POINTLESS. He could have just taken the MC home with him by force, forced him not to take the suppressants, and been in the exact same situation. He still doesn't know where the mother and boy are, so they can still easily die because the MC is missing. Like..... What?!

This level of incoherently poor writing takes the cake for the bad writing I've seen recently. Not the worst thing I've ever read, but pretty damn near close. Like.... What?!

Octavia34 September 8, 2025 1:35 pm

I love omega verses, and this thing has an incredibly high star rating which suggests it's good. However I have absolutely zero tolerance for characters who do unredeemable acts to their "loved one" and then a bad author glazes over that or uses cheap tricks like amnesia or (it would seem) in this case a reincarnation. Authors who must somehow strong arm in a way for the terrible human being to be able to get around his unforgivable acts to be able to get a happy ending that in the real world, everyone would be in agreement of that they do not deserve.

From what I can see of the first two pages of comments, this poor writing trick seems to be exactly what happened. The ML appears, from what I can gleam, to have treated the MC in the most atrocious of ways in a past life, realized he was trash, and simply was able to try again. He may have learned from his mistakes but that is different from repenting and paying for his sins. It sounds that he simply uses what he learned to gain the MCs heart the second time around, but did he ever actually pay for his sins and misdeeds? Knowing what I know of so many yaoi authors, I suspect not. Not in a way people would usually demand in any other medium.

Well, this is really just me expressing my concerns about the writing before even reading it. Please, if this is how it actually is, save me the time of reading 90+ chapters and tell me now. I cannot stomach another story so poorly written. If this is not the case, then I would give it a read.

ok so i'm gonna spoil it for you, but if you dont want to be spoiled, i'll say it IS kinda like that, but the ml actually DOES pay for what he did in a way or another

ml was an asshole, a truly bad one, seriously, rape shit and stuff, and then the mc killed himself bc of that (ch 91), and they were bonded so they kinda "shared memories"
idrk how cuz we didnt get to that part yet but i figure ml has found some way to go back to the past and this time he chose to be good to mc, but he was going to let him go after a conflict happened, but mc was already in love and went batshit when he said that and then they bonded again, so now mc is gonna remember all the shit ml did in the past life
so i guess everything is holding ml accountable but still i do feel kinda insecure about this, its kinda uncomfortable considering what he did in the past
(sorry for grammar errors and stuff, english is not my 1st language </3)

Yeah i was about to write the same thing, once the mc had a business and a solid career far from his toxic adoptive family, the alpha broke up with the mc but he was not having it and the ml was feeling like trash. Once he knew about his significant other's nightmare (about ml r@ping the omega), he was going downhill mentally
The flashbacks just ended with chapter 92 so can’t wait for what’s next but I understand the ick one might have. Personally looking forward to the ml being the mc's slave, so a real redemption arc

I’ve read quite a few regression stories, and I think what makes Beyond Memories stand out is the way it subverts the usual trope: instead of the victim regressing to escape their past, it’s the abuser who goes back in time—presumably to make things right.

Typically, the regressor is the victim who fights to escape a desperate situation and find their own happy ending. But here, it’s the person who did the harm who’s given the power to change the fate of the one they wronged.

Throughout the story, you won’t see Ido trying to glaze over the past wrongs. You’ll see his struggle as well.

As for how much he regret his actions in their past life - it might be in the later chapters that we’re yet to see.

Whether you agree with the author’s message or not, it’s definitely a story that prompts reflection. If consent is a major trigger for you, I’d recommend skipping it.

But if you're okay navigating some dark themes, it’s a thought-provoking read.

The story is dark. There’s a looming sense of unease even during the sweet or seemingly light moments. Personally, I think that’s a sign of good storytelling—you can feel the weight of what’s coming before anything is fully revealed.

By the end, you—and the characters—are faced with the question: Does someone like Ido deserve redemption?

From a writing and storytelling perspective, I’d say it’s done well.

Hope this helps with your decision. If you do choose to read it, I suggest letting it marinade—especially since we’re nearing the end.

Consent is not a trigger for me. It's the glossing over of unforgivable actions. Simply move on and forget mentality that so many authors rely upon, when we all know that irl, people almost NEVER do that, but it is one of the most common tropes in yaoi, especially manwhas.
If this ML does not suffer truly and deeply, as in a living hell, a true living hell equal to what they themselves did, then it will be no different from all the other poorly written stories out there. And I cannot stomach another villainous and evil Seme who gets to get away with atrocities against their "loved one" AND have an happily ever after with little more than a slap on the wrist

In that case, I cannot answer your question.

We’re only at the part where the truth has been revealed. The story hasn’t reached the point of what happened after losing Sejin.

And what will happen now that Sejin knows everything.

Octavia34 August 22, 2025 2:06 am

Is that it's because the story is actually so incredibly life like that it's frustrating for those seeking escapism. This author isn't good with bdsm, at all. I'll give everyone that. Their other story is complete trash with bdsm, which I said in my comment on that story.

However this piece is so close to the real world that I think it makes a lot of people uncomfortable because theyve come here seeking an escape from that. However in the real world there is abuse without fulfilling endings. There is catastrophic levels of lack of communication. There is quick one sided judgements made by people who will never take the time to learn the real truth. There are cycles of trauma that can be nearly impossible to break and often require great sacrifice to do so.

This is no masterpiece, but the author has a lot more going for this story than the majority of stories out there. People are just having trouble seeing that and appreciating it because they've come to this story expecting it to fulfill their desires for how they wish things to pan out, but what they wish for is fantasy, and this gives us a much more real representation of life and relationships.

    Octavia34 August 22, 2025 2:45 am

I also want to point out that Kwon could be a case study in relationships. It gets glossed over because everyone focuses so hard on him being an abuser, but he was a middle schooler when his parents split. He never once had a healthy example of love. I doubt he was ever actually loved. And at such a young and tender age he had homophobia imprinted onto him both by his mother and for being the cause of his broken family. Then his mother's own extreme biased homophobia causes her to take her own life when she even so much as suspects her son might be gay, again, when he is in middle school for which he blames himself.
So of course he doesn't know how to have a healthy relationship. Of course he doesn't recognize his own feelings. Of course he doesn't know how to reconcile his feelings with his trauma cause homophobia. He takes out his own self hatred on the very object (Sooin) that causes all of this emotional confusion and turbulence.

Kwon honestly didn't stand a chance himself. He grew up in such a a toxic and fractured environment, it's no wonder he turned out the way he did. And of course no one ever thought to get the boy child into therapy. I actually can sympathize more with Kwon than I can Joo-whoever (MLs first love).

He's still a piece of shit, but when you really look into his character, his depth is deeper than I think most readers give the author credit for.

Octavia34 August 15, 2025 5:03 am

He's a bit of a breath of fresh air. He's smart-ish, stubborn, has a backbone, sharp tongued. I like his personality.
But man was it a fucking slog to get through him constantly being surprised by the man he's in a f*ckb*ddy relationship with wanting sex. Or him constantly deluding himself into thinking that asshole had feelings for him. Or when he kept going back to him after quitting his job.
I will say though, even though it was a bit of a slog, it's nice to see a realistic depiction of a messy relationship from messy people. I love how he isn't immediately falling over himself to forgive or excuse the seme's behavior during this chase arch too. He is 100% still angry, still spiteful, holding the man accountable, and not giving him an inch. Just as any normal person would actually do.

I can't put this down because it's so refreshing to see a uke/switch with real personality, backbone, and an axe to grind.
