No matter whether you read the manga or watch the anime, it just breaks your heart. I have never adopted any character before but I wish I could adopt Ash and keep him safe. This kid went through hell yet learned to love and that too with someone who just believed in him without asking anything and in return was loved too. The only thing that brought me peace was the fact that he died in peace.
The panel with Eiji crying while looking at Ash's pictures pierced right in the feels.I can't right anymore because this really broke me.
