i think of jun as this chameleon because he simply blends in with the person he's with and he knows how to act accordingly in order to survive, whether it be w jinwoo, yohan, taesan or even his parents & teachers. he knows what will benefit him and what won't, and he doesn't go out of his way to be extra but he also isn't doing too much.
he doesn't wanna be an outcasted loner yet he doesn't want to be at the top of the school hierarchy, he just wants to survive and he'll do everything to get what he wants even if it meant being jinwoo's dog in the past
the only downside about him tho is that he falls inlove wayyyy too easily
one thing we can all agree about is that POTN is def a story thats not meant for every1 bc in regards to the plot it's totally in the morally gray area bc of the graphic scenes which is understandable. but one thing i definitely cannot agree w is this ongoing statement that it's just a manwha full of mindless smut bc it's not !!
the story has layers to it & ppl who stopped reading after the 1st few chapters are missing the actual msg of the manwha (theres like 130+ chapters)
the whole premise of this story was of (seung-ho) a young master who partakes in promiscuous & lustful acts who then takes in (na-kyum) a lonesome drunkard painter who used to make illustrations of male erotica.
he then orders na-kyum to keep painting and become his own personal painter. (who paints his encounters w men)
but WHY? why would he do that? why would he take in some random painter off the street for a mere painting? was it for fap material, smth to jerk off with? - no, it was so he could send those paintings to his very own father (ch. 44) which is a powerful noble figure in politics but also the very man who made him engage in sexual acts when he was a child to gain political favor from freaky noblemen.
(ch. 37) seungho says this to his young bro after he was told that it was right to visit his ill dad, "I am already living by the principles that father has taught us, yet you speak of what is right?" (pls tell me u get what he's saying)
(ch. 74) did young seungho being locked in a room by his dad, begging to get out then seeing a bunch of grown ass hands all over his body not ring a bell to yall? this was a symbol of him being taken advantage of at such a young age.
he was a victim - and him reliving what he had experienced as a young kid wasn't because he actually enjoys it, it was his way of taking control over the acts that destroyed who he was, bc this time he was the one in control & not the one being controlled.
when na-kyum came into his life, it changed everything. he wasnt like jihwa who only wanted his body, he wasnt like sir inhun who only wanted power & riches. for the very 1st time in his life, he had something to lose and that terrified him.
ps. this isn't smth to excuse his behavior, but rather for yall to understand why he was like that & how experiencing sexual abuse is a real thing and theres different trauma responses to that
this law is dumb as fuck like if somebody breaks the rules then expel them from the town?? make them leave?? also going by their logic then they shouldve killed the kid that consumed the medicine "meant for the hounds" am i right??
also maybe if guwon wasn't busy busting it down on teach instead of gathering medicine for the so-called town then maybe they wouldnt have had such a low supply fr
i dont rlly give that much of a fuck about taesan, like yeah he has a sob story but thats what he was made out to be so the readers would pity him, but idk ab yall..i prefer me some complex & unsolvable characters alot more like our MC...
if all ur gonna do is root 4 taesan the whole storyline then take ur shenanigans elsewhere to the lame regular BL zone & refrain from the mature psychological genre!!
i do understand that it's normal for humans in general to feel bad for characters that are experiencing a hard time but the thing is as a reader like myself that transcends that level of emotion to a deeper understanding i just think of taesan as this run of the mill one dimensional written side character in a story full of beautifully presented complex written characters which is probably y i dont really feel 4 him as much
