I don't think he has anything to do with the virus, on the contrary. I feel like Sunbae is more desperate than he shows and Hyung is probably his last sanity safety net.
My other theory is that every scare is a die and repeat and sunbae is stuck on a loop. That would explain why his personality change so much from before the zombie attack. Again Oh Hyung is definitely his sanity safety net, hence why he is so determined to keep him alive this time.
