Past Rutger probably didn't know how to properly communicate to mc at all because of all the abuse he went through so even if he did love mc he didn't know how to act it out. But at least he didn't seem like a bad person towards mc. Sure he never communicated with her, even during sex, but he treated her with a level of respect by waiting until she is ready before their first night together. Only thing that confused me was the promise between mc's half sis saying she was promised to be Rutger's wife or something. But I assume Rutger was lying and will back stab them after they helped him with the rebellion?
Mc's actions of pushing child Rutger away seems realistic and valid as it reminds her of her panick when she returned back to her original timeline, as well as looking at a young version of ML will give her thoughts of "this could've been what our child would've looked like". There was also the thoughts of ML possibly betraying mc and being together with the half-sister + some negative thoughts about ML because of his 'coldness'/lack of communication.
At the end of the day, they have both suffered through unfortunate circumstances and imo both the characters feelings/actions seem valid (as of current information provided to us), and it'll take time for mc to heal and properly talk it out with past ML (since it literally depends on mc because only she can go back to their timeline unless child Rutger somehow gains past Rutger's memories lmao)

I love Mae and her works ever since her first story "the monster of memory/jiyi de guaiwu", as well as its visual novel adaptation on steam. Glad to see her new manhua is finally getting a translation. ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
Also if it wasn't obvious, the characters have chinese names because it's a manhua. Check out her Facebook if you are interested in sneakpeaks for future chapters (up to chapter 9) of this manhua + other art she draws of her original characters
I'm ok that the ml is Ulysses and at the moment they haven't adopted her so she isn't part of the family. The father presented to her a guardianship contract that lasts until she is an adult. It only feels like they adopted her because they treat her like she is their daughter/sister. IIRC the father also gave her the last name of a ruined noble family that was loyal to them or something. I think the prince is cuter but I have a big feeling mc is from the royal family so that would really be incest if they were related so I don't want to ship them for now.
yea i agree, so long as she doesn't actually get adopted by the Marquez Dukedom, because then they will be related.
i also agree that i get the feeling she's of royal blood, and judging by her reaction to the emperor's mistress (who also has pink hair and pink eyes - look familiar?) she's prob the daughter of said mistress and the emperor.
which would explain why the orphanage director said MC's mother called her "Valuable"
that and going by earlier chapters where she was treated by the doctor who though her speed of healing was oddly fast, the fact that she wants to be a doctor, and the fact that in this world the royal and duke families have "divine powers" - I'm guessing she has healing powers.
