I dont think its long overdue it's just slow burn. Just be a bit more open, leave some space in your head for the story to progress. When you get so tight up with your emotion at a certain point of the plot then even when the story continues you won't be able to move on. Its refreshing to read a story where every character has brains. They actually get to know the problem & work on it. Trying hard to be understanding more than misunderstanding.
