Sooo.... I don't think this backstory is the reason why he is like this now. He has a soft spot for elderly people cuz of the old coach's mother and when someone knocked some sense out of him and telling that he helped and did a kind deed to him, He doesn't forget that. So he knows what is right and what is wrong and what hurts and what doesn't. So I think his time with the new coach and how he got the jinx is the reason why he is like that. He knows what being poor feels like and what feels like to be forced to do smth you don't want to. He has a bad childhood, no person deserves that. What you do as an adult defines you only, not what you did as a kid (no one pointed out that he hit people for a living even tho he could get money by other ways but they don't forget or forgive him for what he did to dan cuz he did that as an adult, and he hit ppl as a kid)
