I REALLY like the plot and world but from a writing perspective all that exposition was totally told and not shown. It was a little jarring, cause why hear from a reporter when we can just jump straight into seeing the mc at work? I mean if this was a metaphor for racism, then making a whole segment about how a specific race came to town fifty years ago, but don’t worry guys we don’t hate you, would be really weird right?
This is not a spoiler this is a theory - I feel like he’s gonna kill his dad. Or somehow the dad is gonna die, and that’s gonna be the “repayment” or smth. I hope that doesn’t happen because that would make them miserable but idk I feel like that’s a path the story would go.

actually, that could work for them, dad comes home, attacks son, blondie happens to visit, self defence, accidental death, one way or another, at least one of them will feel thankful and relief
I just hope they don’t get wrapped in guilt or legal issues cause that could weigh down on them forever. the dad is awful and isn’t worth that kind of pain.
