Looking back I don't think she "loves" Alma in a romantic way but she didn't realise that, since she thinks that love is only attainable through romantic relationships thus why she creeps on Alma the way she is. She had no one to depend on, not even her stupid exes, back when she was a human and therefore she probably hadn't experienced many kinds of love gestures (be it platonic or romantic) even though she had been in a lot of relationships herself. I'm sure her high jealousy also stems from fear of being left behind again (but it still doesn't justify her paranoia, even though I understand her situation I guess. But I also understand Alma being in that position ).
And Alma keeps giving her "firsts"— getting scolded, being treated nicely (the bar is in hell with this one), having meals together yada yada yada. And all the things she experienced from being around Alma are not necessarily romantic ! She "fell in love" with Alma when he gave her the tissue thing right? Yeah that's definitely not love at first sight imo
That's my take on her obsession with love tho. I think she has the potential to heal from her past and be happy if she meets the right person (definitely not Alma, he feels like the "right person wrong time" here..) but I'm sure we're not going to see that anytime soon gosh I do wish to see her growth though..
