People like Go Gyeom and his friends are real lowly life. They will always live their lives miserably, trapped in a shitty town, and even if they manage to escape, they'll still be trapped because of their closed-mindedness.
Being a lowly life doesn't have anything to do with your wealth or status, but the way you treat other people, how you live your life, whether you leave a positive or negative impact on others, and your core morality.

Anyway, this reminds me of the Korean queer film, Nightflight (2014), which deals with school bullying, homoerotic friendship, queerness, poverty, and acceptance in a small neighborhood. The plot is quite different but the vibes and some themes are similar. I recommend you guys to check that out.

Yeah, Ain(Ian) doesn't deserve Michelle at all. Not even a bit. Might I say, the world doesn't deserve people like Michelle—he's like a flower blooming in the midst of a miasma of rotten rats.
The majority might say that people like Michelle are idiotic, naive, and aren't ready for the world, which is partially true, but the world is just too cruel for people like Michelle who are compassionate, empathetic, and couldn't harm others, no matter how much they suffer and how unjust the world is.
I have so much respect for Michelle as a character, amazed by how little contempt he holds towards people who have wronged him and the fact that he still possesses the same mindset, kindness, and forgiveness after everything he's been through.

On top of that, Ian should never be with Michelle for many reasons. I know Ian is a victim himself who suffered at the hands of those greedy, evil, and pretentious aristocrats, and how he was exploited. However, it doesn't excuse his wrongdoings and how evil he is. Not to mention the weird age gap between them, Michelle being around 18-20 and Ian being over 30... And, he fucking swore "You're mine" to an inborn Michelle just because of his father's deeds (You're truly a victim, Michelle.)
There is a major reason why Ian and Michelle shouldn't be a thing but I won't reveal the major spoilers, just the nature of the story.

This story is nothing short of a very twisted story and contains taboo and sensitive themes. Honestly, I don't like morally gray(can be argued that he's just evil) characters that much and I always resonate with morally upright and compassionate characters like Michelle more. (I know I'm in the minority) Ian, as a character, is very complex, twisted, and might be intriguing for the majority of readers.

Truth be told, I read through the raws(with Google Translate), so I could have misunderstood some context.
Edited: I think the main story is up to only over 20 chapters (4 volumes) but other 30+ chapters are different AUs. I was so confused. Because there's also a Mpreg AU! And then there's something so predatory where Ian knew Michelle since he was a child AU... (The southern AU)

Everyone is worried about Ian deceiving Michelle as Ain but it's not the main conflict of the story. We're on a long, wild ride. Well, I(a twink top lover) was too excited and read the novel(up to 66 chapters) in a day, and it isn't like my expectation at all. I'm just venting my frustration once again.

Stevebucky. (MCU only) Ancient people like me remember when they used to do the whole "Captain America getting a boyfriend" thing back in 2015-2018 just to make him go back in time to be with a woman. Well, we all know they won't ever make a superhero who represents America a homosexual in big screens.
