It’s so cruel how the author introduced the uke. Our first impression is of him already traumatized and being subjected to rape and slave/pet treatment. Then a few panels down we see what a bright young physician he actually was just a week ago. I hated seeing that, I don’t know how exactly to put it into words but suddenly we see him as a person with hopes and dreams instead of the dehumanized version we saw earlier.
