A few thoughts...
ML's sword looks anime size, I was surprised at that because I don't see a lot of giant swords, but then again he and a lot of his closest people look like giants next to the fl.
I'm also not the biggest fan of the art, what is wrong with the fl's eyes? and her mouth?
speaking of mouths, the duke's when he's in side profile looks a little ridiculous. his up front drawings look okay and even amazing sometimes, but from the side, his mouth looks odd. also, what is up with the body proportions, and the scary looking muscles on his body? it's not about him being ripped, how it's drawn makes me not want to see it.
Anyway, it's a pretty typical story with a naive/virtuous female lead, brutish male lead, and they'll fall in love for seemingly no reason. The setting is new but the story is not. I read harlequin novels - and harlequin historicals - for a long time before branching out and the story is very similar. Anyway, it was a quick easy read but I don't think I'll be watching out for season 2. I might read the novel to see if I like it better.
so the art does kinda get better. I like the ml's eyes in later chapters, and there are some good shots of his face in ch47. But i like the contrast of red eyes to black hair when it's not a mess so.
It's cute, really, but I'm at ch48 already and I'm kinda confused about a lot of what's going on in this story. It's like someone took an epic story and cut it in half, and some scenes are going way too fast because the details are lost.
Both the main characters are cute, though, and I feel sorry for Sica's brother. If only their parents abandoned both of them, but the story might have gone a different route in that case, since I already know the ending.
Its cute but I'm a little uncomfortable because she's locked up and can't leave. He also keeps doing things she doesn't like or want. Its a comedy, but no matter how cute this is basically kidnapping and sexual harassment.
Well first of all she never said she had her own desire to go outside and the hero mever really refrained her from going outside, he didnt say anything. Even so, it would've been dangerous for her to go outside anyways bc shes the demon queen.
And i think the author tried to portray the demon queen as a tsundere. Plus, she never strongly opposed to it either and the hero didn't particularly do any nasty things to her.
He keeps hugging her, he controls what she wears. So she could invite one of her friends, he jokingly asked for a wish in return but she agreed, and he makes her sit in his lap. Maybe he would let her out if she asked, but she thinks he's planning to kill her and that she can't leave. Its played for comedy because its a misunderstanding, I did say the story is cute, but sorry I just can't be comfortable with that set up.
I do understand its the safest place for her but at this point she has no choice in what's happening.
Hmm i mean hugging her isnt rlly sexual harrassment?? Theyre not strangers and i wouldnt think of anything when my friend or even someone i know (who im alright with) hugged me. And what she wears isnt anything appropriate and i actually think the clothes r cute, also at least she gets approapriate clothes to wear not anything perverted. He was supposed to be joking when he asked for a wish and she agreed and when she sat in his lap she didnt rlly feel or look disgusted? Well it seems she was raised to be quiet and obedient. She doesnt show her emotions as much but at this point she seems quite comfortable and not particularly opposed to his actions.
Maybe she did all those things quietly bc she thinks that hes planning on killing her but she doesnt seem to mind or resent him for that. I also understand how ur uncomfortable with whats happening but compared to mangas where rape happens and alot of uncomfortable unwilling stuff happens this manga is way better.
And yes in that situation she has no options and shes not free so the hero is sheltering her and i think its quite cute aswell
I'm sorry, but hugging someone and touching them if they don't want it is considered sexual harassment, no matter how innocent it looks. They may not be strangers but they aren't friends, when they met his plan was to kill her and he didn't because he thought her face is cute. In my book his actions are harassment.
Even if you say she didn't look or feel disgusted to be sitting in his lap, she didn't want it and that's the point. They're not in the kind of relationship where I can write it off as cute shyness. Whether the clothes are okay or not it doesn't change that she has no choice, he literally removes other clothes so she can wear the little red riding costume he wanted. She is not his doll though.
Even if its cute I am still uncomfortable, and I'm the kind of person who drops rapey manga because I could never stand them.

And if you see at first see seems quite wary and not used to the fact that shes being overwhelmingly doted on. Honestly it seems that the hero is rather on the playful doting side rather than an overly possessive one-sided love.
And yes he originally set out to kill the demon queen and didnt after seeing how cute she is. But its more as if since the demon queen was so weak and cute he felt a sense to protect her and u know 'love at first sight'.

The hell everyone being serious for? It's just a 2-dimensional fiction characters, the girl is old enough and never rejected it she's just like whatever.
Just a few chapters in and I already don't like this story. I read another story that did the same thing "Character goes into an otome game as the villain, but the villain isn't really a villain and the original protagonists become villains" it's that kind of premise. Can't there be one where the person realizes they were a villain and make up for what they did, fall in love along the way, and not turn the OG protagonists into villains? It feels like I'll lose all confidence in protagonists for normal stories once I stop reading isekais.
I skimmed a bit further and I don't have the heart to continue. It's the kind of world that revolves around the heroine - all significant characters either like her or they dislike her, she's the most pitiful, and the ones that dislike her/she dislikes are terrible people with terrible personalities who go through humiliation. Maybe it will progress, but I hate that beginning. I don't even love this heroine, the default setting for most is to care for the protagonists even if they're the originals and she's the new heroine of this story, so those first few chapters aren't fun for me.
This only ever happens in Japanese manga for some reason. There's so many stories now about a villainess being rebirthed but I really would like to read one where they're reborn after they've done all the bad stuff and they head towards redemption. But these stories turn the 'villainess' into the cliche gentle and loving perfect heroine, the world revolves around her and she's just misunderstood. The OG ml is turned into an idiot that just didn't see how great she was, and the OG heroine, if it's an otome game/novel, is someone who fell into the world and got too greedy and confident.
I've read five stories with this premise and they all go the same route. The girl also falls way too quickly for the new Ml when she supposedly loved the guy she was engaged to for years before the villainess's story ends.
The story isn't for me. It's like falling into the world of Harry Potter and finding out Harry, Ron and Hermoine were actually terrible villains and Voldermort and Draco Malfoy were misunderstood saints. The comparison is a bit too much but it's just to give some context. It's why I can't love stories with this premise.
Ch18 hit hard, I hope all the terrible people suffered. Its so wonderful I cried at the end, but why isn't there more on Jun and Marcus? I'd like to see ╥﹏╥
The story is so cute up until the very end, but one thing seriously irked me! This wasn't made so clear so I read past it but now I'm kind of pissed, just a little.

I kept waiting for them to 'do the deed' but at ch 103, it turns out she's pregnant! there's a panel at the beginning of ch87 and another part where the two of them are in bed and he's smiling at her while she's blushing and covered in a blanket towards the end, someone says it implies they were sleeping together by that point, but it still kind of irks me because it didn't look at all like their romantic relationship had progressed to that point! because he still thinks she's scared of the wolf king and not in love (also kind of turned on) by him! In spite of this, they're still sleeping together. It was also so glossed over that I didn't realize it happened, I really wanted to see how things progressed from them being openly affectionate to that point.
It's a minor issue, honestly, but I still feel like I've been cheated┗( T﹏T )┛
Please ignore me, this is only my own hang-up, but because romances are predictable I at least want to see the romantic developments so I hate that I missed this. I didn't need full on smut but a heavier implication than two images dumped in the middle of a narrative would have been nice because it feels like I was waiting for it for 100 chapters and it just slipped by me. I'm also completely pissed that Reishou's reaction to her telling him she's pregnant is also skipped.
As for the twist, it's about how she got the job, if they were sending out an ad it could have been anyone but it ended up being her so I wondered why her. It's kinda answered by ch104.
Finally... their son is apparently Hiryuu (from the summaries, think it might not be 100% correct as it's marked as guesswork from the kanji.)
I already thought these two reminded me so much of Hak and Yona and now that name even appeared...

so agree. when I saw the forums/blog's translation 2-3 years ago i had to search for it ... those 2 were so shy or even the kiss was like a hurdle and it just pops up that they were expecting. I did enjoy those chapters though but really even a hint it happened we had to like dig thru previous chapters to find out a clue.

It ended (?) at 65 chapters according to the wiki. Even with the spoilers though its hard to say what I think about the story because I just can't get it. Maybe I just don't know everything but I don't understand why any of the story is happening or a lot of the characters' motivations. The supernatural element just makes it even more confusing.

I read the raws until vol 30, and I just had to stop. It is so repetitive. Right from the beginning, she meets someone, they either want her or want to kill her, she gets kidnapped a lot of times, other times she does something stupid that gets her taken because she's not vigilant enough/is too gullible. Somehow, she forgives the fact that Isis killed her father, attacked her and her brother, and abandoned her to be a slave in Egypt, she comes to 'love her like a sister.' Even when she finds out Isis colluded to kill her, she still wants to save her.

I still really like the story because the outfits are nice and the guys (Pharaoh and Hittite prince) are hot with amazing hair, and I love some of the Pharaoh's clothes (the all black outfit I get to see him wear twice, for example.) The art style gets a lot better compared to the beginning, which I appreciate. Also, when they're not getting into a fight or Carol is doing something stupid, I do think she and the Pharaoh look cute together.
Because the story is old, I'm giving it a lot of concessions, making a lot of excuses for how dumb everyone is acting (there are very few rational people in this manga, maybe the Pharaoh's prime minister guy and Carol's bodyguard, and even they are questionable at times). I wouldn't mind if someone did a remake of this, though I'm not sure I'd love it with a more 'modern' heroine. If I had to pick a character Carol could emulate, it would be Yona from Akatsuki no Yona (I can't think of anyone else really, I need to check out more good shoujo manga.) A lot of modern heroines just piss me off in a different way, because they're still very similar to Carol. My problem with her, is not that I want her to suddenly turn badass (like the Red River character) I just want her to grow some common sense and some caution.
As of Volume 30, she seems to have picked up two new admirers (along with the Hittite king, nor really a new one but it seems he wants her now, Ishmir/Izumi even let her escape so his father wouldn't get her.)
She did drop back to the present, but she gets held by someone who falls for her (so technically 3 admirers, but once she's back in Egypt/the past he's not really seen there - he did try to hide her from her family and kept kissing her when she was asleep. He's a rich kid with Arabic origins I guess because he wears Arabic clothes(?), but he does get her back to her family before she falls back to the past. Of course, she gets kidnapped first.)
I can picture how Vol 30 would go from the first 50 pages I skimmed, someone else will kidnap her or something and she'll need to be saved again (by one of her 2 new admirers, both obviously respected-looking leaders like all the other major players). The site I went to for the raws has 63 Volumes and I read somewhere in the comments it completes at Vol 83. This whole story could have been concluded in 10 volumes, maybe 20 if you stretch it, because all that happens is she gets into trouble over and over and someone keeps saving her, a bunch of people love her/want her for convoluted reasons and keep trying to own her, the occasional sprinkled in conflict/war, and then the people who want to kill her/get rid of her. Everything is wash, rinse, and repeat from the first chapter. While it is interesting and manages to keep you hooked anyway, I got tired of it after 20 volumes and an extra 10 volumes where I had to guess what was happening. Maybe I should have read a chapter a day instead of binging it.
This will be my last rant over this manga. Definitely.

My final rant. Honestly.
I understand ur feelings about this shoujo, but please trust me. These translation are wrong. U can see the scan is broken af. Im sure these are just English translation from the illegally scans from Vietnamese publisher. They have been wrongly translate and fix the conversation of characters
on their own desire which leads to misunderstanding. I have read these wrong trans since i was still elementary school, and it affects my belief still then
Trust me, my issue with the story has nothing to do with the translation. I loved it, I read 30 volumes of it after all and the last ten were in Chinese, so I literally had to guess what was happening, which was easy because the story was repeating itself. The issue is that everything just repeats ever and over, it takes several volumes for any significant development to happen, Carol didn't seem to get any better because she kept making dumb decisions that got other people killed.
I just got tired of it, and reading raws was tiring anyway, so I found some spoilers and decided to drop it.

I do love it but it gets to a point where everything starts to rush, I think it's after they're done with all the misunderstandings of the divorce. It's not as fun after that but I still love it.
