This feels like if someone tried to make a satirical parody about stereotypical korean bl manhwa, especially with all its stiff uninteresting art, flimsy pace, utterly predictable plot, completely two dimensional characters (and the perfect flawless rich lover who does all the chasing) with clichéd roles. That kidnapping scene really did it for me, like bffr you can’t tell me whoever wrote this wasn’t trying to fit every single trope into this so-called plot with these random ass plot points. Usually I would be fine with reading this as just a light, turn your brain off type of read but man this one really ate away at my braincells more than the others because there really was nothing to it, the execution was bad and there wasn’t even a little fun unique twist so it wasn’t even remotely enjoyable. It was so bad it kinda made me realize how maybe I don’t actually enjoy these kinds of stories as much as I think I do and i only read them cuz they’re so popular and literally everywhere on mangago. If there’s anything good I took away from this story it’s that I should go reread some good ol quality BL by like Niyama or Azuma Kaya and maybe even go touch some grass.
Look folks I’m only on chapter 22 but I have already been radicalized into believing that tae knocking that crossbow out of the hands of that brave european guy tryna kill ilay was a heinous, thoughtless act equivalent to that of knocking the gun out of hitlers hands before he could commit suicide. In that moment he stalled revolution, betrayed his comrades, destroyed the life of a brave selfless soldier who was simply trying to rid the world of senseless evil, and ultimately stopped humanity from taking one step closer to world peace. What a shame, Tae, what a shame.
