Started off as a turn-your-brain-off smut and developed into a profound and nuanced take on healing generational trauma and reconciling tensions between queer love and parental/sibling love. Art has improved obviously but there’s something to be said of how much the storytelling and dialogue has improved too.
Really appreciate how the author shows us the perspectives of every character, from the parents to the childhood friend to the little brother to koko, everyone is so three dimensional and fleshed out. Cuz she could’ve written this like another one of those trending bl manhwas with boring villains and background foil characters whose sole purpose is to either support or cock block the couple and dramatize their soap opera romance, but instead she chose to put a lot of heart and thought into everything which is very refreshing.

I just kept on reading and reading until I finally arrived at the latest chapter cuz I naively assumed that surely they’re gonna get a happy or at least profound/meaningful ending one way or another and I needed that closure. But this chapter sobered me up to the fact that it’s never been that deep… these are truly unsalvageable characters and at the end of the day they’re that way on purpose; this shit was intentionally made to be so long and miserable and unsalvageable and drawn out!! Because some folks just get off to the kinky side of this cruel, violent and miserable fuckery! Duh! The high rating hardly means the story’s gonna get better; unfortunately it just means that people on mangago find them hot (which is fine)! And people like us need to stop desperately waiting for some happy or profound conclusion to come out of any of this because it’s not happening we’re never gonna get the closure we want it’s gonna be like fifty more chapters of this miserable shit just escalating more and more! and this is a sign we might be wasting our time on misery porn disguised as romance when we could be enjoying something actually pleasant.
