you’re not exactly wrong, but this is more common in manhwa than manga. most of the characters in manhwa are asian but only the bottom has Asian features usually. there are different reasons for it, 90% of the time it’s just because the bottom is the main protagonist and the artist draws what’s most familiar to them because they are Asian. and thus they tend to spice up the love interest because it would be boring if they looked too similar, and they are supposed to be “hotter” and attract both the protagonist and the audience. also light hair x dark hair is a really aesthetically pleasing combo imo. i think the recent rise in black haired ukes is an attempt to reverse the light haired bottom and dark haired top craze of the early 2000s. bc i used to hate how light hair was associated with being submissive and a bottom and dark hair only for the top, but now they’re reversing things, which is pretty interesting.
