this was pretty good! i loved the premise of a vampire and vampire hunter… the angst was delicious. the twists were pretty good, i couldn’t guess who the culprit was, but i just knew who it definitely wasn’t.
wish we could get some side stories! it ended so quickly that i couldnt rly feel any attachment to the characters even tho the plot was very much up my alley…
i read this expecting some funnies and sillies, but i also got some feelies. cried a bit when he was talking about how lonely he was…. like i understand that the emperor and kids were busy with their own lives, but how could u not even visit the empress?! im so sad for him.. so glad it’s a happy ending, this is not the kind of story to have a bad ending but it was a very satisfying ending. plz learn more about each other! it was cute and a bit more emotional than expected :’)
the author being a fan of Pride and Prejudice is very obvious here lol. this is very much a period drama, full of aristocratic affairs and Yearning.
highly recommended to read this if u’re into drama, angst, misunderstandings (a lot of it), conflicts of a noble with a commoner, and of course, slow burn Yearning. the characters love to just Look at each other and lots of slight subtle changes in facial expressions. very beautiful.
the two main characters r also very layered, not everything is black or white, good or bad. everyone has their own reasons for acting or thinking a certain way, and there are those who r aware of their own shortcomings and unconscious prejudices. i just love it.. the two main characters went thru so much, going in circles with each other before finally being able to settle down into a proper relationship. i adore them. (tho there were some frustrating moments..)
it also rly puts into perspective the idea that there is a thin line between hate and love. i feel like that quote/idea is very much a core part of these two characters.
only downside for me is that the happy moments were too short-lived. as much as i appreciated the ending, i felt like it happened a tad too fast and can only wish we could’ve seen more of them as a couple without obstacles. but either way, it was a very compelling read.
also loved the simon cameos!!!! wish we could’ve seen conor w him as well :’)))

ouuu i adore hari n moogil so much… gale rly mellowed out a bit here compared to dark heaven. i was honestly surprised i ended up loving his character so much. perhaps i can support his rights and wrongs.. (im kidding)
but i have to say that Juns is a wonderful storyteller. i rly love they brought the suspicious caller theme into this series as well. compared to that sequence in dark heaven, i felt like this time, i had a harder time trying to figure out which one of hari’s friends was betraying her. i was stuck betw it being either the therapist’s daughter or the friend w a kid. and the result did not disappoint, it was very well executed!
loved the pacing and the subtle changes in facial expressions. a lot of the storyboarding felt very cinematic, idk it was just so good and flowed rly well! dark heaven was so well executed, loved the character stories n development, and Juns rly did outdo themselves here… i loved every moment. hopefully they come back w something new in the future :3
also i wish we saw more lovey dovey scenes betw hari n moogil…. and i wanted to see more of nazina n marco!!!! they r so cute…

hated how veronica seemed to get an easy way out, her death was too quick and easy for literally being the one who started everything. FUCK UR ASIAN FETISH U SICK FUCK
i felt so bad for the prosecutor, man. i dont even have words to describe, wrong methods but he just wanted revenge. glad he got to murk that one sick politician tho.
gale kiiiinda grew on me. dont get me wrong, dude is a sick fuck but his story brought me to tears. fuck alster whatever the father’s name was.
it was a happy ending at the end, and i’m glad they got married with conor’s parents trying to accept them in their own ways. but i cant help but feel like its a rather bittersweet ending, bc of everything they had to go thru and the things they lost. but im happy that together thesr two lovely characters r gonna be happy together towards a brighter and more accepting future. shit hurts tho.
on another note, i love the chibi style.. they look like little sea creatures! like axolotls.. meanwhile gale’s chibi creature is just a ghoul lol
