He did a lot of bad probably without knowing. Maybe he thought that the confession was out of desperation and not out of actuall strong feelings. So he send the kid to him because he might have been able to confort him better. But instead of that the message got all mixed up and now everything ended up being a mess. Again thats just my theory. It was massivly ignorant of him to trash his feelings like that if it wasn't out of ignorancy
