This is a good read that could have been great if the author had not chose certain directions to take the story. The time skip was rather abrupt and didn't sit well with me. There was so much tension and build up to this fight and then poof, it vanished, and we skip two years into the future only to see the aftermath. There was no pay off for all the anticipation built and it left me rather unsatisfied and unfulfilled. I felt like I missed out on what could have been a really entertaining fight spurring growth and maturity for the MC. And all we got were flashbacks and consequences. Shame, really.
Now everything after the time skip isn't as interesting, but it's still entertaining nonetheless. I have no plans of dropping this, but I wish it had done some things differently.
This could have easily been a straight 10/10 masterpiece if it weren't for that ending. Wow, I'm really sad it ended like that, I wanted to see Damon and co. get their comeuppance.
If anyone has any idea why the author had to stop here, please let me know. I'm curious why the ending is like this.

What a rollercoaster ride! The ending was pleasant but just a little unsatisfying because, personally, I wanted some more closure and mayyybe a kiss in there somewhere lol. but there are side stories coming up so I'm excited for that! Overall a good read, lots of emotions and I was hooked from the beginning to the end.
The magician, mentor, whatever, was an a**hole to the highest degree. I hope she proves him wrong. Why go out of your way to spend so much time doing something so vindictive and spiteful. Ugh, I really want to see him suffer
