People clearly haven’t read Cnovels or manhuas much lol. They really think Chen Xing considers Lin Xiucheng a real father??? Hahaha, in Cnovels everyone wants to be everyone else’s father and anyone who has the money and is willing to spend it on you to raise you is the real daddy, no matter the age or gender (yes, even girls want to be daddies). This is the essence of the gold daddy.
And clearly, Lin Xiucheng is not much older than Chen Xing, maybe 7-9 years older (CX is maybe 18-19 as he said he had stayed in the orphanage for 16 years but he was already 2-3 years old when he first arrived, in other words: NOT A MINOR as he can travel to other countries and check into hotels on his own). Even though Lin Xiucheng is already the head of the Lin Group, he is still of the third generation with cousins who are almost the same age as Chen Xing. It’s only his authority, power, and money that qualify him as a father to someone of the same generation, it has nothing to do with his age. Everyone is just calling him old man, the poor guy… Well, he is indeed an old man compared to the tender Chen Xing, but certainly not so old as to father a biological child as old as Chen Xing.
I’ve read plenty of BL Cnovels with an ML around the 25-28 age mark with an adopted son (could be the MC, could be the 2nd mL/villain) of the same generation around the same age (for various reasons but mostly for inheritance purposes) so I’m not so surprised with this kind of dynamic. They’ve only met each other for how long? Certainly not long enough to develop a real father/son relationship, especially with Chen Xing already that old with such s small age gap, but maybe a mentor/mentee or guardian/ward relationship which in these kinds of situations could easily be steered to develop into a romantic relationship by the author.
In terms more understandable to most, this is basically just a sugar daddy/sugar baby relationship that became real. In the first place, Lin Xiucheng had no real intentions to adopt Chen Xing as a son, he just took him in because he could afford to raise someone (not sexually) and maybe he was going along with the 2nd uncle who obviously had ulterior motives in sending a person to Lin Xiucheng as a bed warmer. In the first place, Chen Xing being “adopted” was clearly understood by everyone in the know (including his biological family who sold him off, and maybe the orphanage director, even Chen Xing himself) as being kept, becoming a sugar baby, a canary, and a bought plaything. There is no real expectations of being someone’s real son. Otherwise, why would Chen Xing’s biological father even go to the trouble of bringing back an illegitimate child instead of just handing over his legitimate son when being the son to the head of the Lin Group is such a good deal? Lin Xiucheng saying he was going to raise him as a successor at the beginning was only to catch the enemies off-guard and see what else they’re going to come up with as they clearly would not expect that. Maybe Chen Xing did have some small expectations since Lin Xiucheng offered to adopt him as a son in front of others but he quickly realized that’s not the case once they were alone. Finally, he just wanted to either have a good life or be allowed to go back to the orphanage if possible.
He had been waiting in the orphanage when his biological father found him and decided to take him ba...
