Not to be rude, but maybe you are just too young to be reading this? There are lots of crime dramas out there, and they are immensely popular, the difference is this one focuses primarily on the psychological motives and behaviour of both of the criminals. Instead of it say being based primarily on the detective investigating the case. Also, most yaoi justifies rape and assault, whereas here we clearly see it as crime.
I don't think rape and assault can be justified... It's cruel, even if it's just yaoi. ;-;;
Where did anyone say such crimes were justified? The purpose of the plot is to show an understanding of why these crimes were committed, and in this case, it is due to the two characters deteriorating mental health.

Oh man sorry, you said most yaoi justifies rape and assault, so I assumed you yourself thought most yaoi make it justified. I feel like if you said, "Although most yaoi try to justify rape and assault, here we clearly see it as a crime." it would have made it easier for me to understand.
