he did truly love her in her past life, he knew she was a fake all along and only acted cold to protect her, as for the baby he said it was a mistake because ian (the baby) was a boy and that meant he could be used as a pawn by the grand duke, he gets really mad when he finds out that they kill elena and ends up killing the real veronica, but it's also sad because the prince and ian end up getting killed as well by the grand duke when he finds out the prince killed his daughter (real veronica)
