To judge Doc’s feelings for Henry at face value completely invalidates the whole point of this story, in fact save for the raunchy ass sex, Doc loves Henry incredibly so but his inability to understand of it being mutual is what makes him seem shallow
GUYS THE THING IS DOC DOESN’T EVEN UNDERSTAND HENRY’S HEART! Its that very reason that he clings to head, this lack of understanding fuels his anxiety. Desperately looking for an answer that is logical, and whats more logical than a being that housed his lover’s mind? He neglects Heart because, of course he wouldn’t cling to something he couldn’t understand like the Heart. What he wants is assurance of what Henry “thought” of him. Because lets face it feelings are ambiguous, and with that level of anxiety and obsession, it cant provide him relief. We’re clear headed thats why we look at his actions like his stupid, but honestly as a person who was insane enough to bring his dead lover alive I doubt we can hope the same amount of rationality here
And he indulges dick because that’s was the only way he could sometimes cater to Henry. But that’s why the doc feels a little shallow to me because he only gives way to head and dick , while ignoring heart. Which is crazy to me because if you want someone to love and accept you you have to cater to their heart.
And it’s clear to me that Henry’s heart has some kind of feelings for him. But I guess that his actions thus far aren’t translating to that for the Doc.
