I genuinely feel hollow. It would be one thing if we got to finally see Ash free from his trauma and spend at least one free day happily with Eiji, but it's never rewarded. And now Eiji seems to have a huge scar that has not healed after all those years. This is so bitterly hollow and I can't find happiness reading this story.
Honestly this whole thing has been such a healing experience. The line "you don't owe me anything", was so sad but so mature and these characters are so beautifully developed. I still couldn't like the mum, but I'm glad the characters could move pass that 10/10.
