“just like an affair” oh lord this really is the japanese mindset.

like holy moly, i’ve seen reels on insta and tiktok’s of a guy going around asking japanese if they consider seeing prostitutes as “cheating” when you’re in a relationship and almost all of them always say no. their reasoning “bc it’s not romantic” or “because it’s paid for service” yada yada. both men and women (although women a agree a bit less but still)

you know, even though they are horrible people i really REALLY enjoy and love that even they get character development. i admire that in this story they face hardships, the torment they’ve put others through and realise the wrong in their ways. i’m not saying all is forgiven and they can just live happily and freely now that they’re aware BUT considering how they’re going, i believe they’re gonna spend their lives properly repenting for their actions.

I completely agree with this. I was actually really surprised that she didn't go immediately to her mother even tho she knows she's being searched and decided to live as a commoner. There's a chance that that will change it the future and she'll go back to her noble life but this is refreshing. And also it's kinda the same with the red haired daughter. At least she's experiencing hardships now but she has a long way to go for a character development.
Her mothers greeting seems like THE MOST UNNECESSARY AND USELESS TRADE OFF.
my initial guess was that it was more humiliating for her mother to be cordial (and thus would deal a heavier blow), seeing as she was the one who threw the first stone and caused this situation in the long run.
not to mention, it did seem like the item was not as special to mc and the male lead (since he apparently has a lot of them hidden), so a fair price would be to effectively damage her mother's price, but not too much that the other party would back down from the deal.
I guess its to bring her mother down a peg or two. Someone with that much power and pride greeting someone as an equal when they ised to see them as insignificant is a heavy blow to their ego.
