Yes, because it's not for promotion but for allowing an additional element to telling a story. Drug addiction, murder, infidelity, child abuse, etc. - there are all these horrible things that make-up some good stories. I don't want to say I don't get the hype but I read Ten Count when it was still around 5-10 chapters and I can't bring myself to like it.
