You can’t tell me otherwise because some of my fav bl stories don’t have to rely on smut to get my hook in reading but other factors in the story.

I do read shoujo lmao. I am an avid reader of BL and there's PLENTY of great BL that have demonstrated that they don't need to rely on half-baked sex scenes to "hook" readers. A healthy combo of the two is good. I'm just saying authors should try a little harder in their storytelling rather than just some bland sex scene with zero context. 10% of the time, this hook works. The other 90% is just an eye roll. There's love in boys' love for a reason... if u like those kinds of openings, good for u. Enjoy reading all the sex scenes u want ig.

Im so tired of reading openings like that and then the mc narrators like, “how did I end up in this mess??!” Like I don’t know dude I just got here. It’s just screams lazy writing and there’s so much more they could do that hooks us into reading the story. Like I don’t really care for these characters who are just mindless having sex in the first chapter I just started. It feels better to be rewarded.
