While the ML guy does like Lucien because of the resemblance I don’t think it matters in this story since (in my theory) Lucien and the Princess are the same people (Lucien being a reincarnation of the Princess). If she isn’t then I guess Lucien having certain memories of the Princess is just a cruel joke by “God” for her last life, although, I don’t think authors would go that route.

Yes, I think one of Lucien’s previous lives was as the Princess. Otherwise, it wouldn’t really make sense why the authors have them so similar to each other. So similar to the point where Lucien was able to find a secret passage in a castle she had never visited before, a secret passage which was only known by the Princess.
