for me, i just grew out of the type of yaoi i used to read which was very smutty.
now, i love the light hearted yaoi like the wholesome and the domestic ones that doesn't have like 5+ chapters dedicated to them doing it in different positions.
Just like @OyaOyaOya said its just ur interest shifting... I still read yaoi but not like before where I read them 24/7 , what I've been into now is shonen ai ... And I think reason for lost of interest in reading yaoi might be because the story is now repetitive and the toxicity too
I used to love yaoi as well. All I've ever read was yaoi until I've had my first boyfriend lol. Idk why but it just started to weird me out since then. Maybe it's because I'm aware of how yaoi fetishizes men, and since I have great respect for my bf, I wanted to stop that...? Not sure if I made sense but I think that's how my brain went lol
Don't worry it happens. Suddenly you loose interest but trust me when I say this intrest comes back like tsunami and a raging addiction in coming future lol

Although I have lost intrest in smut but shoun ai all the way up !!! And some gorgeous art stuff
omg, same! i never stopped reading yaoi tho, but as i got older, i started gravitating toward stories that are less toxic and have more depth, focusing on meaningful relationships, well-developed characters, and engaging plots. nowadays, i also read a lot of non-yaoi genres like romance fantasy, shounen, action, etc. it feels like such a huge leap from what i used to read. i mean, the first manhwa i ever read was killing stalking! can you imagine? but yeah, as we grow up, we naturally get tired of repetitive tropes, and our moral compass becomes more defined. well, at least that’s the case for some people. Younger me read the most fucked up plot yaoi without any regret I m into yaoi this year it's 9 years I cannot get tired of this genre cuz I started this genre with most best classic yaois and they helped me lot if u start yaoi with today's manhwas it's evidable you will get tired of yaoi but i now as gotten older go back and forth in genres like I read shounen ai , yaoi then some josei then action but my day end with yaoi.
i loved yaoi when i was younger but now im like an adult and i lowkey dgaf about yaoi anymore did anyone else experience this, maybe i grew out of it
Saw this meme
Me at 15: yaoi yipppe :3
Me at 18: yaoi fetishizes men and I don't like the bottom being smaller, he is not weak, let men be masculine. Please don't ever call me a fujoshi.
Me now: yaoi yipppe :3

i get ur point, yaoi stories back then do have plot unlike now, most new yaoi stories are just yaoi porn with a rapist-abuser male lead

I grew out of reading, toxic yaoi but I still very much read BL like lost in the cloud, our sunny days and just more realistic stories.

Naw I still like it after almost a decade. It’s just that I’ve pretty much read everything that interested me so I’m just into novels now.
