Imo, it seems to be a spell. Before the younger brother licked Yurito’s eyes, Yurito was aware that he was low on Cori’s spirit energy. But after Hakujin(?) licked Yurito’s eyes - which was most likely the catalyst for casting the spell - Yurito acted like Coro didn’t exist. Further, Hakujin seems to be making Toshimaru sleep - as seen when he touched a very energetic Toshimaru, who was then suddenly drowsy.
In all likelihood Hakujin wanted to slowly remove Coro and Toshimaru from Yurito’s memory and steal him from Coro.
