I mean he is still part of the Mafia, he was never going to be a good person and if you think back he was only doing what he was taught to. He never really stepped out of line and when he realised what effect he was having on him he started to change.

I mean, i dont see the apology as a start of the character development more like its the end of it. You can see that he began to change a little bit not long after the guys kid got taken away. This either is the translators fault or the author genuinely is bad at making plot and is there for the sex. But you can see he does start changing, without apologizing he does a lot for the guy. The apology was merley stating that he fully changed for the better. And some may say “oh it took him to change for the cd??” yes, even in real like people wont change unless something horrible happens so yeah the character development is decent again might be how it’s translated. I actually liked the character development but it reslly seems that the author was more interested in making sex scenes so bleh.

All that time we spent waiting for this consensual sex scene and you think the author is mainly interested in that? You don't need to write characters actually thinking about their past actions in depth for just porn but euja did.

Yeah i dont like how they water down rape, but its a manhwa and unfortunately in most BL or more specific yaoi theres rape in every story. Im myself am trying to look past that because i really just want better for the Main dude and his kid. ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
