I think he was referring to what he felt when he got a hen's instincts when he laid eggs. He felt like he was becoming closer to being an animal than being a human so he wanted to stop it.

I thought that was because it was his first egg. Like how chickens also need to reach maturity before laying eggs, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same for K. My grandparents do have chickens and I sometimes find some with blood on them and I pray that the chicken that layed there is alright.
