Ah….i know how that feels. Getting all your self worth from work. I thought I was fixing my mental health and my friend goes “you know you are supposed to be able to have self worth irrespective of any external influence. All your self worth comes from external influences. But you know you just have worth right?” And I was so shocked. Like I genuinely thought everyone just had self worth from external things only like work or study.

OH MY FUCK it’s just clicked and now I’m not confused anymore. Most video game manhwas take place in MMORPG video games where the player is interacting with other players. This game is a hero collecting battle strategy game. So you collect all the hero’s, level them up and strategise. Where it starts to get confusing is the leader devotion thing. As far as I know like mana potions and stuff, love must be kind of like a cultivating thing. The more “love” you put towards your empire the stronger they get. And in a lot of cultivating games you get the option to walk the path of the enlightened or the corrupted. The difference is that MC actually FR loved one of his hero’s and poured actual love and dedication towards him. He confessed in the game??? And idk??? Maybe the game manipulated the words. Also unclear if all the hero’s are actually sentient this whole time. This is kinda like video game ORV.
Is the gore more brutal because it was originally a novel? I can see how writing “Akira put the bat in the microwave to thaw” would be funny but actually SEEING Al get microwaved and his head turn to jelly from over heating and him getting burns is NOT FUNNY. Like maybe the whole serial killer thing isn’t as brutal in the novel. The way they draw the dead bodies and the animal cruelty tho is so fucking brutal for how light the story is. Love it tho. Apart from the animal cruelty it’s right up my alley.
