i’m currently reading the novel and i hope the manhwa does it justice. their dynamic is similar to the guys in Punch Drunk Love if the roles were reversed.
canonically, Abyss is 24 years old, but if we count all the years he’s been alive (not including the side stories), he’s technically 45 years old or the years since he’s gain consciousness at age 16, he’s 29 years old.
past Abyss is 24 years old, current Abyss has 8 years of new memories, and time-travel Abyss stayed with Prince for 13 years (but he didn’t age during that time because it was a transmigration mission).
anyway, this is such a good series!! it needs more recognition!!

a bit controversial, but i think something must have happened to the ex as a kid. there’s no way a kid would do that to another kid; it’s gotta be a learned behavior. maybe that’s part of the reason his family moved from Tokyo and why he stayed in Hiroshima for work. i’m not condoning what he has done, but it’s a bit scary to think how his views became so skewed at such a young and impressionable age; he seems to be only 1-2 years older than Toru. if this happens to be the case and if the author decides to create a spin-off, i hope we can see the ex unlearn his toxic behaviors and become a better person.
Chapter 4: “When you’re in a relationship or dating someone, do you need to like them 100% from the start? Some people think it’s just a matter of time for them to reach 100%. That’s what I think too.”
I didn’t think much of this quote until I read Takara’s POV from ch6. Then I had an epiphany. Let me cook for y’all ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
Based on his demeanor towards love, you would think Takara has more dating experience than Taishin. Naur, naur, naur. This couldn’t be further from the truth. This dude has never dated once in his entire 20 years of living. And I bet my left pinky on this.
Let me break it down for you. His personality is the type to hold onto something the moment he gets invested in it (ch6: “Takara, you’re quite straightforward when it comes to things you like.”). He’s never given up on any of his interests (ch6: “I’ve been collecting marbles since I was in first grade. But I’ve never thrown any of them away.”) So if he has even the slightest interest in someone, he will fall hard for that person. Taishin wouldn’t even be able to butt in (ch6: “If I were to like someone, what would it feel like? If that happened, would I want to hide them then, and keep them all to myself and never let them go?”). Therefore, this quote from ch4 is Takara’s declaration of love. He fell for Taishin the moment their eyes met (ch6: “They were sparkling and quivering… reflecting only me. But I couldn’t just pick them up. They weren’t marbles.”). So when Taishin asked Takara to go out with him (he didn’t exactly ask lol), it was Takara’s way of asking permission to turn his like into love (ch3: “But I might not be able to act as if nothing happened. I don’t know what I will do about you in the future. Maybe I’ll treat you as a schoolmate with whom I don’t get along. And I won’t care about you this much, right?”). He knew if they date, he would eventually reach 100%. It was only a matter of time. In conclusion, Takara is unexpectedly romantic ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄

personally, i would have preferred if Han ‘suffered’ a bit longer cause he was a massive douche to his exes. at first, i thought based on his explanation of his past dating history that ok, it doesn’t seem like his exes like him that much either. but when we got to meet an actual ex, idk… that dude looked like he was still healing from the break up. it didn’t seem like Han repented on his past, except for mistreating Shinwoo. Though ig, that does fit his personality and any regret towards his mistreatment of his past partners would be OOC of him. but oh well, at least Shinwoo is happy and the story was pretty solid.
