well....time to read everything else this author has ever done lol. I love the art style, the characters are cute and their dynamic is interesting. Akira being the uke is amazing. I love unconventional roles and him being so fuckin comfortable and open to being the bottom makes him so attractive because of how comfortable he is with himself and his masculinity

wow, the first story was so emotionally riveting and intense I was way too overwhelmed to pay any attention to the second story lol. It was so well written and pretty realistic in its depiction of the uke's abuse and trauma. I do wish it touched on that first assault more though. It feels too important to be secondary to the uke's conflict with the seme. It's implied but I wish the assault, the homophobia, the rejection and the eventual self harm was linked together more cohesively.

I highly recommend watching Killing Eve!! It has similar push and pull dynamics between a psychopath and their love interest (although killing eve's protagonist is a lot smarter and complex than kirin) and also asks a lot of questions about a psychopath's ability to love. There's also so much sexual tension and amazing character development between both characters through the seasons!!

I like where this is going. I really want the emperor to stay away and take care of the uke from a distance for a period of time first before trying to get close to him again. Having the emperor suffer silently for a bit would make the redemption arc really satisfying. Besides, some time apart for both of them to calm down and reflect would be good for them.
I feel like this is one of the most realistic and grounded depictions of how rape and abuse affects its victim mentally and psychologically in the yaoi genre. I'm honestly impressed by how well fleshed out Shiwoo's thought process was through all his traumas and how those thoughts evolves with time and any additional triggers and afflictions. I can really tell the author did their homework.
The romance aspects does leave a lot to be desired. At one point I could write a 10 page essay on how fucked up Yujin is (I still can tbh) but I can appreciate that every childish, careless, cruel, and self centered words or actions he inflicted on Shiwoo actually had consequences and weight to them, that they influence Shiwoo's psyche and their relationship in very real ways instead of being excused like most yaoi do. It's this kind of realism that made the story worth reading despite its slightly disappointing elements.
