This is actually a big issue with korean bl writers when they set their story in a country other than Korea or with characters that are not Korean at all , the Korean culture and language is still pretty dominant there!
Yeah totally, haha. Like these authors can only see stories through the perspective of their own cultural influence. I notice that in stories where MC will go to a foreign country, random characters have insight into Korean cultural norms or stereotypes like it's common knowledge. Makes me cringe a little.
There were even a few times when an American character in America bow to apologize! It’s a very asian thing! LOL
